In German we have the saying “Ihm scheint die Sonne aus dem Arsch…”.

Climbing Buddies

By robinranger 2013.10.27 in Rocks

Say “HI!” to my climbing buddies Amelie and Bernd!
Thank you both for all the great time, special tips and nice moments, we had a amazing season so far.

Job of the week

By robinranger 2013.09.25 in Job

My job for the next days: marking the trails. Pretty easy for me, as a studied graphic designer 😉

Last summer days.

Rock Pack

By robinranger 2013.09.17 in Gear

When it comes to outfit and stuff, I like classic styles. Less plastic and techy elements, but leather, waxed cotton, simple designs, etc.

At the moment, the Kletterwerks Rock Pack is my Backpack for everyday use.
The material, quality and production is really good. Great details and a classic look.
Some small features are missing and 25 liters are not enough for all my climbing equipment, but fine for the daily hike.

Coprinus comatus

By robinranger 2013.09.14 in Saxon Switzerland

This time of the year is definitely “Mushroom Season”.
I love to go on a mushroom foray and to learn new types.

This is my latest hunt: Coprinus comatus or “the shaggy ink cap”. Try to get the young ones, clean them, cut them in the middle, crumb and roast them.

These little plastic number plates need to be attached to each sign in the park. If you are in trouble and need help, Go to the next sign, call the emergency and tell them the number on the plate.
Now they can exactly identify your position and can send help.

Clever he?

It seems the summer is over and for the next days the weather forecast says rain and more rain…

So time to (re)wax my stuff and waterproof it. Specially at the lower part of my pants when walking through wet grass and so on.

At this time of the year I really like the Keb-Trousers by Fjällräven. Specially the zippered ventilation is great to control the climate inside your pants when they are waxed and your are sweating.

Pure enjoyment!

What a perfect day. I made this classic route called “Gipfelstürmerweg” at summit “Pechofenhorn”. Great (last) summer day, amazing view and a lovely climbing partner.

Another great climb. This time i entered the Lilienstein Nadel, a real classic with a amazing view across the Elbe valley.

Jonna Jinton

My name is Robin,
I'm 37 years old and i left my home base Stuttgart (Germany) and my job for one year, to become a ranger in the Saxon Switzerland National Park.

You can see it as a sabbatical or just as a year away from the lifestyle of a city.
Instead of sitting in an office and working online, I'm outdoors most of the time, hiking, climbing and taking care of tourists and nature.
On my blog i will give you insides on my daily live as a ranger and the beauty of this national park.
